about
this site
This
site was originally developed
by a group of women representative
of a wide range of organisations
throughout the south of
the south. This loosely
connected group had the
common purpose to improve
communication, provide
opportunities, both social
and economic, and ensure
that people were aware
of issues that any of us
feel are important.
After
several months of informal
and infrequent meetings
it was decided that the
cheapest, quickest and
most exciting type of communication
would be to use the Internet.
We attempted to overcome
some of the limitations
of access to the Internet
by placing modems in four
resource centres: Middlemarch,
Fairlie, Nightcaps, and
Waimate.

After
an interlude during which communities
and their needs have developed
and the nature
of the groups involved
changed, this
site has
been redeveloped to reflect
these changes. If
you wish to make a comment
on how
we can improve the
site please let us know. We
look forward to filling
the gaps as we hear from
you. We
want this site to reflect
your needs. If you cannot
find what
you are
looking for, please tell us.
If
you know of a group or
organisation that has information
for women in the rural
community not already mentioned
here, please send us an
